I need to do a few more lines

Okay, so I saw this meme on last.fm. I stick my media player on shuffle, and blog a line from the next 10 songs that appear. Then you, dear readers, guess which songs they came from and leave .

Actually, the number varies. One example had 50. That's ridiculous. Also, other versions say that it should always be the first line, but that's less fun.

Anyway, here goes!

  1. "Think I'm just happy."
  2. "But apparently I've alienated some."
  3. "Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?"
  4. "Is it heavier than air? Tell us, is the black box lying?"
  5. "She just got a new job but she doubts it will last."
  6. "Taste of white skin on red leather."
  7. "Take off that stupid looking hat you wear."
  8. "At least it was her mistake."
  9. "When I hit my twenties, I ran out of steam."
  10. "Come write me a letter and paste it on my refrigerator door."

I'll add the answers as they come in. Also, I admit that I skipped a bunch of tracks for being instrumental or for being music by people I know or something. =)

Also, I promise that this is the last meme for a while.

Edit

I've just noticed that, thanks to an earlier post, I'm now the first Google hit for man slay. Whoops.

It's probably worth mentioning that I have watched minimal Who.

Which Doctor (from Doctor Who) Are You?

You are the fifth Doctor! Probably the kindest and most outwardly agreeable, you're very well liked by all. You have an odd sense of what accesorization. You're also very sporty, and this reflects in your style of dress. Be wary of attempting to become a mentor figure. It might end badly.

Wikipedia Birthday Meme

Hmm, a handy meme from [info]azureskies:

Put your date of birth, excluding the year, into Wikipedia and choose 3 events, 2 births and 1 death.

So from 12th August we have:

3 events

2 births

One death

That was quite enjoyable. Also, shitloads of other stuff happened on my birthday, but nothing in 1986. Oh well.

Is putting my date of birth on the Global Circawebs a good idea?

Simon

You are Simon, the young, brilliant doctor. Your devotion to your sister drove you to part with the world you knew. Raised on a civilized planet, you are not used to coping with the situation you have landed yourself in &mdash though you seem to be adapting well enough to suggest robbing a hospital.

Which Firefly character are you?

Sprited and boisterous! You drink everyone under the table.

Who's your inner european?

I'm not really sure why I'm Irish. Probably because I said I hate the British. :-)

Review of the year

Woo, a meme from [info]designergall.

  1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before? I don't think that I did anything notable for the first time this year.
  2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn't keep the resolution to celebrate Arbitrary Celebration Day. :-(
  3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nein.
  4. Did anyone close to you die? Someone close enough.
  5. What countries did you visit? Scotland, Hong Kong, France, but not in that order. Edit: Oh yeah, and Italy! (Cheers damog!)
  6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? An orgy in a sauna. Can I invert the question? I would like not to have skin evilness.
  7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? October 22nd; December 21st; August 12th (surprise birthday stuffs from people you met but a week before and will never see again once the fortnight is up == awesome).
  8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? What's one of those then?
  9. What was your biggest failure? That's a good question. Generally being lazy and putting stuff off doesn't really count, does it?
  10. Did you suffer illness or injury? The former, mainly.
  11. What was the best thing you bought? Well, technically I paid for my Firefly box set... =) Thing I've used most would be my iRiver. Oh, and Oceansize's Everyone Into Position is awesomeness.
  12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? Lotsa folks. You all rock. :-)
  13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? Sony BMG! ;-)
  14. Where did most of your money go? Urgh... I don't know! I'm going to use GnuCash really anally next year to try to figure it out. Woo, resolution!
  15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Hmm. I'm not very excitable.
  16. What song will always remind you of 2005? Good question. Possibly Install A Beak In The Heart That Clucks Time In Arabic by 65daysofstatic. That has no lyrics, so is probably not a song. Smashing Pumpkins' Mayonaise also comes to mind.
  17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
    • happier or sadder? Happier.
    • thinner or fatter? Fatter, I think.
    • richer or poorer? Poorer.
  18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Music, work.
  19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Coding, idling on IRC.
  20. How did you spend Christmas? With my grandmuzzer, aunt, uncle, and muzzer, in Orkney.
  21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with? Eakd.
  22. Did you fall in love in 2005? Short answer: no. Long answer: ask me again in a year.
  23. How many one-night stands? 0. What kind of a student am I? =)
  24. What was your favourite TV programme? Firefly. If that doesn't count, Brass Eye. No, neither was aired this year but I don't watch TV.
  25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No.
  26. What was the best book you read? Vurt, followed by Cryptonomicon.
  27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Oceansize.
  28. What did you want and get? ...
  29. What did you want and not get? ...
  30. What was your favourite film of this year? You expect me to remember a whole year of films? Serenity, or maybe Trapped In The Closet.
  31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Got tricked into going to a restaurant by the Bus! folks, which was awesome; 19.
  32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? I don't know. More sleep?
  33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? What the fuck is a personal fashion concept?
  34. What kept you sane? The fact that sane people do exist.
  35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I don't really do that. Sorry to be boring. Edit: Okay, I lied. I guess either Alyson Hannigan or Jewel Staite.
  36. What political issue stirred you the most? All the privacy evilnesses. ID cards... The whole we need 90 days to torture gather evidence thing... Oh, and the USA PATRIOT act was quite funny.
  37. Who did you miss? Depends on where and when.
  38. Who was the best new person you met? ...
  39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005: Eat more cake.
  40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: I'll get back to you on this one.
