Two of my team mates are not here today. (One of them is not here all week, but that's not really relevant.) For various reasons, they have given me Administrator access to their machines. Clearly, pranks must be performed. The current plan is to install the BSOD screensaver on one of them, and to switch the X and Z keys (with a well-placed registry entry) on the other. Can you, oh Lazyweb, think of any other subtle, non-damaging pranks that can be easily performed without wasting the whole day on writing a remote control for the mouse cursor?
Also, I don't like Swing all that much, and the Look & Feel stuff is fairly cracktastic. However, the Napkin Look & Feel is awesome. It almost makes me wish all my software were written in Java! ;-)

I still have no idea why a method named .canExecute() doesn't actually correspond to whether .execute() will work.

I have evaded the insane Winchester Uni firewall which blocked ssh, imap, imaps, pop, pops, smtp. This post is mostly for my future reference.
- Run sshd on port 443.
- ssh -D 1234 -p 443 ...
- Tell applications to use localhost:1234 as their SOCKS proxy.
- Experience Jabber joy once again.
Dear Lazyweb, how do I make mutt use a proxy? Or should I just portforward imaps?
Bedtime for resiaks.

IBM had a song book.
The name of T. J. Watson means a courage none can stem,
And we feel honored to be here to toast the I. B. M.
(via timgoh0)
Also, I'm going to IBM on the 8th May:
Please prepare a 10 minute presentation that addresses the following:-
'Information Technology: What it means to me' and 'Why I believe I have the aptitude for a career in IT'
... as a means of demonstrating your interest in, and awareness of, the IT industry.
[snip snip]
You will need to save the presentation onto a CD or memory stick. Please save your presentation in either Powerpoint or Freelance Graphics.
to which I think I should reply:

I'm sorely tempted to follow these instructions to the letter and save it to my camera's memory stick. > Please save your presentation in either Powerpoint or Freelance > Graphics. I don't own either software package. Could you provide me with a copy of either one for my Debian system, to demonstrate your interest in, and awareness of, the IT industry? (Couldn't resist.) I could save my presentation as a PDF, which strikes me as an entirely reasonable format.
I wonder if I would lose the internship.
