So you know all those irritating “oh hai i lost my phone” groups that people set up because it’s way too tedious to click through your entire friends list? With any luck, they should become a thing of the past. Behold the Facebook Phonebook!

But wait, what’s this? There’s no “export to VCard” button! Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Facebooksync for mac used to be awesome since it worked with isync, sadly it no longer works. But I did get a sync in before they blocked it's screen scraping (it now works through a facebook up and isn't that great).

oh, on the no export to vcard thing, look at the authors of the various facebook syncs out there, the issue that facebook will pretty much sync 1 way from anything (absorb info) but not let you take it out under T&C.

I don't know if they claim it's for privacy, but I kinda feel it's more to make facebook have stronger hold on it's users than a dealer has on his heroine addicts.

Yeah, the terms are pretty restrictive, and their privacy argument for not having a "get a vCard" button (which has been used) doesn't wash — it's in no way more privacy-infringing for your friends to import you into their phone than it is for them to, y'know, read your profile.

Oh well.
